Events Offer Real Value
Events Offer Real Value - 01 December 2011
Sometimes there is real value in getting out of your office and seeing what other businesses and organisations are up to. This week I attended two events in London.
The first was at the Barbican and was entitled: Efficiency and Reform – Productive Public Services. I was pleased to see so many attendees from local councils and the NHS, who were clearly looking for other ways to save money or streamline what they are already doing. There were loads of case studies, and good presentations. I was particularly impressed what the NHS South Central who are using data to see which hospitals were performing best in certain areas and then making sure that information was shared across the rest in their region.
Clearly, this is right up our street as we know we can save organistions a significant amount of money by moving print and post to our edocument solutions. The savings on print, paper and post are often overlooked as they are considered "business as normal" but they often represent a significant amount of cost to any organisation. I think there will always be a place for print and post but if companies are looking to be more efficient than sending documents securely by email is surely the way to go.
The second event I went to was Apps World. This was really interesting for me because it managed to mix cutting edge technology with the principles of good marketing. In essence it covered: who do you go to in order to get your app, how then do you take it to market and how to you then get people to talk about it.
Again, an area of interest for us as we are launching some of our products via a range of apps. We’re working on: iPhone, iPad, Android, Zimlett and Confluence apps – exciting times.
